Bulk edit multiple selected fields

If you have to make several similar changes to the fields in a class or project, you could click each field separately and edit the Field Details. However, to simplify field management, you can select one or more fields and edit their details at the same time. This enables you to compare the options for each field in a single glance to ensure that you are being consistent.

Tip The main grid options are editable when double-clicked. Select multiple fields from the Field list and edit them together in the top editable row.

For example, you have several fields in a class that use layout classification only, you can select all of them and edit these settings at once.

Note The field options displayed in the User Interactive Modules group are not available for bulk editing. If you want to display a field for either Correction or Verification, you need to edit the Field Details for an individual field.

You can edit multiple fields in bulk by following these steps:

  1. Expand the Project Tree and select the class.
  2. Open the Details window if it is not already open.
  3. Optionally, view the class contents if they are not already displayed.

The hidden class contents are displayed.

  4. In the Project Tree, click a field, and while holding down the Ctrl key, click several other fields.

If you need to select a sequence of fields you can use the Ctrl + Shift keys.

Alternatively, you can bulk edit all fields in a class using one of the following methods:

    • Select the Field Project Tree - Fields icon collector item and click the Show Fields in Multi-Selection button.

    • Double-click the Field Project Tree - Fields icon collector item.

The selected fields are displayed in an editable grid in the Details window. The left stationary Field column lists the fields and their respective class. The rest of the grid is scrollable so that you can edit all Field Details. Each column represents an option from the Field Details.

  5. If you want to edit a single field, select that field in the Field column in the Details window.

The Field Details for the selected field are highlighted in the grid and are loaded into the top editable column.

  6. To edit an individual option for the selected field, do one of the following:
    • Use the editable row at the top of the table to make changes to the selected field.

    • Double-click an option to make it editable. Make the necessary change to the selected field.

  7. If you want to edit multiple fields at the same time, click a field in the Field column and while holding down the Ctrl key, click additional fields. If you need to select a sequence of fields, use the Ctrl + Shift keys.

The editable row at the top of the grid is loaded and linked to all of the selected fields. Any changes made here are made for each of the fields selected in the Field column.

  8. Edit the top row as needed. The values applied here are made to each of the selected fields automatically.

The changes are updated in the grid for each selected field.

  9. Repeat the previous steps to edit all fields that require modification.
