Use the Advanced Evaluator to return the best extraction results from multiple input locators for a set of subfields commonly found on invoice and purchase order documents. For each subfield, define evaluation steps and confidence thresholds for the input locators to find the correct result in a voting process.

Kofax Transformation Modules provides a number of different locators for extracting invoice header fields and amounts. For example, trainable group locators, rules-based invoice header locators, and format locators. Often the same field value is read multiple times by different locators. Using the Advanced Evaluator, you can evaluate the results for up to three input locators without scripting. One way to evaluate the results of different locators for a field is to rely on the results of a specific algorithm from a trainable locator. If the specific algorithm does not provide results, you can use the results for the generic algorithm, if it is found by the Format Locator.

For example, you can extract the Postage using a Format Locator, an Amount Group Locator and a Database Locator. Using an Advanced Evaluator allows you to compare the Postage results from each of these three locators and select the result that has the highest confidence. This increases the chance that the extracted value is correct.

You can modify the threshold for the input confidences to limit the number of alternatives provided by each input locator. This enables confidence values from different locators to be compared more evenly. You can define an output confidence for an evaluation step so that you can influence the result. For example, use these thresholds to make confirming a result in Validation mandatory. Then the output confidence of the subfield alternatives is normalized.

To manage the subfields used in an Advanced Evaluator:

• Add a predefined subfield to the Evaluator Subfields list

• Remove a subfield from the Evaluator Subfields list

• Create a custom subfield

• Rename a custom subfield

• Reorder the subfields in the Evaluator Subfields list

• Delete a custom subfield

To configure subfields added to the Evaluator Subfields list:

• Define input locators for a subfield

• Add an evaluation step

• Configure your evaluation steps

• Delete an evaluation step

• Reorder your evaluation steps
