General tab - Project Settings window

You can use the General tab to configure commonly used features such as online learning, foldering, automatic rotation, and the use of the Thin Clients.

Rotation

This group has the following options:

Enable automatic rotation for

If scanned images are inverted or sideways, you can configure your project to rotate the images automatically to their correct position. You can enable automatic rotation to be performed during one or both of the following:

OCR

Select this option to rotate images automatically when OCR is performed on a document. This option is selected by default.

Layout Classifier

Select this option to rotate images automatically when a document is processed using the Layout Classifier. This option is cleared by default.

For the best results, select the OCR option if you are using content classification. Select the Layout Classifier option if you are using layout classification. If you are using both layout and content classification, select both.

Rotation during runtime

You can define how an image rotated during runtime is saved by selecting one of the following options:

  • Save image rotation on disk. This is the default value for this option.

  • Save image rotation in XDocument.

The Save image rotation on disk is selected by default. However, when rotating a page of a PDF document the result is always stored within the XDocument because PDF documents are read-only.

Foldering

This group has the following options:

Enable folders

Foldering is used to group documents in a batch based on configured criteria. This option is cleared by default.

Color Conversion to Black and White

This group has the following options:

Contrast sensitivity

Increases or decreases the ability to detect subtle differences in shading when a color image is converted to black and white. The value for this option is set to 3 by default.

Noise sensitivity

Increase or decrease the amount of noise correction applied to the black and white image when it is converted from a color image. The value for this option is set to 3 by default.

Thin Clients

This group has the following options:

Enable Thin Client Correction

Select this option to allow users to correct batches in a Web browser. This option is cleared by default.

Enable Thin Client Validation

Select this option to allow users to validate batches in a Web browser. This option is cleared by default.

Note The best practice is to not use Thin Client Validation for a validation step that relies heavily on validation form script events. See the Scripting Help for more information on the script events available in Thin Client Validation.
Use defined form layout

If the Enable Thin Client Validation option is selected, this option is available.

Select this option to use the defined validation form layout for each class. When this option is cleared, the default Thin Client Validation form layout is used.

Important This option is enabled by default for all new projects.

For projects that were created in a previous version of Kofax Transformation Modules, you need to enable this option if you want to use the validation form layout.

Enable Thin Client Verification

Select this option to allow users to verify batches in a Web browser. This option is cleared by default.

Enable scripted layout changes

Select this option to support validation and verification layout changes via script. To support scripted layout changes such as hiding a button or tab or setting the zoom value for the Document Viewer the DocumentLoaded event needs to be fired each time when you browse the documents in Thin Client Validation and Thin Client Verification. This can worsen the performance as the traffic between the server and thin client modules is increased. This option is cleared by default.

Note However, if you do not use the DocumentLoaded event when customizing a form, but do use events such as ButtonClicked or AfterFieldConfirmed you do not need to select this option. See the Kofax Transformation Modules Help for Scripting for more information.
Reporting

This group has the following options:

Use group value

Select this option to allow users to group reported statistical data by the document classification result or a field value. This option is cleared by default.

When the option is enabled you can choose to group your reporting for one for the following:

  • Classification result. This is the default value for this option. For classes that have subclasses defined you can select the field on parent level and all subclasses inherit the value. However, you can select a different field for a subclass.

  • Field. If you group by a field you have to define on class level in the class properties which field is used for grouping.

Note You can select any field of a class for grouping even if the option Use for statistics is not selected.
Monitoring

This group has the following option:

Save field property change history

Select this option so that any changes made to field properties during extraction are recorded and available in the Extraction Results and the XDoc Browser.

This option is cleared by default.

Important Selecting this option may increase processing times. As a result, it is recommended to select this option if you are interested in the field results only.
Online Learning

This group has the following options:

Enable online learning

Select this option to allow users and scripts to mark documents for online learning. This option is cleared by default.

Path to online learning files

If Enable online learning is selected, this option is available.

Type the path to the location where your training documents are stored, or select the path using the Browse button. The default path uses a child directory of the Kofax Capture application data directory.

Advanced

If Enable online learning is selected, this option is available.

Click to open the Advanced Online Learning Options window.

Definitions for the buttons at the bottom of this window can be found in Common Project Builder Buttons.
