If a recognition engine knows what type of content to expect in a zone, extraction results can be improved. As a result, the FineReader and RecoStar recognition engines enable project administrators to specify the type of content expected in a zone.

There are three different content types depending on the recognition engine:

• Alphanumeric

• Numeric

• Amount (RecoStar only)

In addition to the content type, the RecoStar recognition engine also enables project administrators to specify the character set and a pattern to further refine the content type.
