If a recognition engine knows the type of font expected on a document in advance, recognition accuracy can be improved. As a result, the RecoStar and FineReader recognition engines enable project administrators to specify a print type when adding or modifying a recognition profile.

The following print types are available depending on the recognition engine and profile type:

• Unknown

• Fixed

• Normal

• Typewriter

• Matrix

• Index

• Handprint

• Machine print

• OCR-A

• OCR-B

• Farrington 7B

• Magnetic (E-13B)

• Magnetic (CMC-7)

• Receipt

This does not mean that other recognition engines cannot recognize zones with these print type fonts. It does mean that if you can configure a zone to expect one of these fonts, recognition rates can improve.
