Add batch structure rules

These rules are configured at the project level in Project Builder. These rules are executed before any document level rules when a solution is run through a batch.

If folder management is enabled, these rules can also be added to folders.

The following batch level rules can be added to a project:

  • This batch needs to have N documents.

  • This batch needs to have N documents of class X.

  • Document Review Script Method.

For example, an organization processes loan applications that consist of an application form together with three or more supporting documents, such as a bank statement. Each loan application is processed as a separate batch. The organization would like to ensure each batch contains all of the required documents.

The batch has the following rules:

  1. This batch needs to have at least four documents.

  2. This batch needs to have exactly one Application Form.

If a batch does not contain four or more documents, a problem is shown in Document Review. If the batch does not contain one document classified as an Application Form, a problem is also displayed.

You can add multiple Batch Structure rules to the Project Class or a folder. This enables you to add combinations of document counts in a batch or folder with documents of a specific class, as well as scripted rules. This flexibility ensures that you have full control over how your batches are structured and how they are corrected during Document Review.

You can add a batch level rule by following these steps:

  1. Open the Project Tree window if it is not already open.
  2. In the Project Tree, select the Project Class.

Alternatively, select a folder if folders are enabled for the project.

  3. On the Design tab, in the Create group, click Structure Rule.

A new batch structure rule with a default name is automatically added to the Project Tree, and the Details window for this rule is displayed.

  4. Optionally, rename the rule.
  5. Select a Rule type.
  6. Configure the dynamic options that are displayed based on the selected rule type.
