Automate Interpret and Transfer: Overview

Since Interpret and Transfer do not normally need user intervention, they can run in the background as Windows services. Multiple instances of Interpret and Transfer can be configured on a network in a distributed Kofax ReadSoft Invoices system to start and stop automatically according to the times and conditions you specify in their corresponding service configurations, and they can run indefinitely without interaction.

The settings for service configurations are very flexible. Consequently, they must be configured carefully and tested to ensure jobs run correctly. For example, if two conditions, configured for the same service job, negate each other, the job may not run at all, or if service jobs with different conditions are set up in the wrong order, some jobs may never run resulting in invoices that cannot be processed.

Note that to use a service configuration in production, both the Interpret or Transfer instance and at least one service job configured for it need to be enabled.

Use the following steps to create service configurations for instances of Interpret or Transfer used as services.

  1. Create instances of Interpret and Transfer as Windows services.
  2. Create and configure service jobs for each Interpret and Transfer instance used as a service.
  3. Configure and start the Kofax ReadSoft Invoices service.

The possibility to use Interpret and Transfer as services is intended for Kofax ReadSoft Invoices installations that use several computers on a network. Running these services as a stand-alone installation is not recommended.

    Important
If Append to existing file is not selected in the Output settings (Transfer job description), the transfer file is overwritten each time the job starts.
