Troubleshooting after installation

If Kofax ReadSoft Invoices does not work after the installation, check that you have followed the installation instructions. Access the instructions by clicking Documentation in the first dialog that is displayed during installation.

In addition, make sure that you have read Readme Kofax ReadSoft Invoices accompanying the software and followed any additional instructions there. The readme file is found in the \Documentation folder where the program is installed.

Common problems

  • Kofax ReadSoft Invoices cannot be started.

This is usually because Kofax ReadSoft Invoices cannot access the Kofax ReadSoft Invoices database.

Verify that the database settings in Eiglobal.ini are correct. Edit them if they are not.

If the database settings in Eiglobal.ini are incorrect, your computer cannot access the database. Verify this by using another program to access the database, such as Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager.


  • Kofax ReadSoft Invoices can be started, but the scanner does not work.

Usually, this is due to a faulty connection between the scanner and the computer, or a conflict between the scanner card and another card in the computer.

If you use a Kofax scanner card, Kofax ReadSoft Invoices always tries to scan using the scanner selected as the default scanner in the Kofax Scanner Manager utility (KSM), which is found in Windows' Control Panel. Ensure that your scanner is set as the default scanner before scanning with Kofax ReadSoft Invoices. Otherwise, you will get an error message.

Check the cable connections. Make sure the scanner works when you run the demo program that came with the scanner card. If the scanner does not work, you probably have a hardware conflict (base address or IRQ). See Troubleshooting during scanning.

Make sure the scanner description used in the Scan job matches the scanner you are using.

Make sure you turn on the scanner while the computer is turned off, and then turn on your computer.
