Create, edit, and manage user-defined variables (UDV)

User-defined variables (UDV) are created and managed centrally in the Manager module. They are then selected from a dropdown list in the various places where they are used in Kofax ReadSoft Invoices, such as, in job descriptions and the inbox in Verify.

Note All UDVs created or edited using the following procedures are added to the system in lower-case letters regardless of how they are entered.

Create new user-defined variables

To create new user-defined variables, complete the following steps:

  1. In Manager, select Administration > Configure UDV.
  2. Type a name and value for the new UDV.
  3. Click Add. Multiple values can be defined for each UDV name.
  4. Click OK to save.

Edit existing user-defined variables

To edit existing UDVs or values, complete the following steps:

  1. In Manager, select Administration > Configure UDV.
  2. Click a single UDV in the Variables list and a single value in the Values list.
  3. Right-click the selection and click Edit. If more than one value is selected, the Edit menu item is not available.
  4. Adjust the user-defined variable name and/or value, and click OK.

Delete user-defined variables

To delete existing UDVs or values, complete the following steps:

  1. In Manager, select Administration > Configure UDV.
  2. Click a single UDV in the Variables list, and click one or more values in the Values list. If you want to delete a variable and all of its values, click the desired variable, right-click within the Values list, and click Select all.
  3. Right-click the selection and click Delete.
  4. Click OK.

Notes:

  • When UDVs are either edited or deleted, they are removed both from the inbox in Verify, if they are configured there, and from any job descriptions where they are used. Consequently, UDVs that are edited using the procedure above need to be reconfigured again separately in each place where they were used.
  • The UDVs created using the procedure above are not the same as those created using the API (see " UserDefinedVariable object" in API help) and used in the Invoices or Batches dialogs. If you want those UDVs to be available for use in job descriptions or for inbox folders in Verify, they must be created and added manually according to the procedure described above.
