Advanced scanner settings: ISIS settings

Kofax ReadSoft Invoices has its own image enhancement features that affect how images are viewed on-screen.

You can change scanner settings, apply image filters, and change the way invoices are displayed on your screen. These adjustments can be made at numerous points within the program. See Scanner settings and filtering operations for an overview.

Read the documentation supplied with your scanner interface for additional information about how to use the functions described here. Study the manual for your scanner, as well, before changing any of the settings. Not all settings apply to all scanner models.

To access the advanced scanner settings, click Advanced in the Scanner settings dialog. The Kofax settings dialog is displayed if you are using an Adrenaline care with a Kofax driver. The ISIS scanner settings dialog is displayed if you are using any other connection and an ISIS driver.

Click Default at any time to reset to the standard settings.

Note If you change any of these settings, interpretation rates can decrease, as well as increase. Test the changes thoroughly before going into production.
Color dropout The scanner tries to drop the selected colors and convert them to white. This only works with black and white scanning.
Auto deskew The scanner tries to straighten skewed images.
Note Kofax ReadSoft Invoices has its own deskewing function, which makes this setting usually unnecessary. If you are having skew problems, you can try deactivating the Kofax ReadSoft Invoices deskewing by setting the SoftwareDeskew setting in Eilocal.ini to 0 and using this ISIS deskewing, instead. See "SoftwareDeskew" topic in INI file help for more information.
Auto crop The scanner tries to crop the scanned image down to the physical dimensions of the actual page that was scanned, if the paper size was smaller than the one selected in Kofax ReadSoft Invoices .

If this option is disabled but your scanner is capable of auto cropping, include UseMiniDriver=1 in the [SCSIOptions] section of Eilocal.ini (see "UseMiniDriver" topic in INI file help). With Kodak scanners, Auto deskew must also be selected in order for auto cropping to work.

Panel controlled Settings you make on the scanner’s control panel override conflicting settings made from Kofax ReadSoft Invoices .
Scan time out (seconds) Specify how long you want the scanner to wait before reporting that the document feeder is empty.
ScanAhead Activates ScanAhead.
Double feed detection The scanner detects when multiple pages are drawn into the scanner. An error message indicates a paper jam, and the scanner operator must check which pages to put back in the document feeder for rescanning.

Select Normal to use the default method of double-feed detection.

Select Thickness to use a detection method based on the thickness of the paper. This is appropriate when each page being scanned has the same thickness.

Select Length to use a detection method based on the length of the paper. The scanner stops if the scanned image length is 10% longer than the length of the paper selected in the Scanner settings dialog. This is appropriate when each page being scanned has the same length.
