Scanning Settings

This topic describes scanning settings that are available for the Brother device, supported by the Unified Capture component..

These settings are configured on the General tab in the form settings. Select the Allow Changes check box next to any option to allow users to change the setting on the device console.

For available options and restrictions on scanning settings, see the documentation of the device on the Brother website. If an invalid combination of settings is selected, the device uses its default settings or shows an error message.
Setting Description
Scan Type Indicates whether to scan the original in color or black and white mode:
  • Color: default

  • Gray

  • Black and White

Resolution Scan resolution can be set before the initiation of scanning, for example the following values:
  • 100 dpi

  • 150 dpi

  • 200 dpi

  • 300 dpi: default

  • 600 dpi

  • Auto

Document Size Document size can be set before the initiation of scanning. The available values depend on the geographic location.
  • Letter

  • Legal

  • Mexico Legal

  • A4: default

  • A5

  • A6

  • Executive

  • Photo (4"x 6")

  • Business Card (3.5"x2.4")

  • Folio

  • Long Paper

File Type The following file types are supported:
  • PDF Single-Page

  • PDF Multi-Page: default

  • JPEG

  • PDF/A Single-Page

  • PDF/A Multi-Page

  • High-Comp. PDF Single-Pg

  • High-Comp. PDF Multi-Pg

  • XPS

  • TIFF Single-Page

  • TIFF Multi-Page

Brightness Indicates the brightness of the scan.

File Size The possible values are:
  • Default: default

  • Small

  • Medium

  • Large

Remove Background Color Indicates whether the level of background color removal.
  • Off : default

  • Low

  • Medium

  • High

2-Sided Scan The following options are available for scanning two-sided pages:
  • Off (Default)

  • 2-sided Scan: Long Edge

  • 2-sided Scan: Short Edge

Skip Blank Page Indicates whether to skip blank pages during scanning.
  • On
  • Off: default
Skip Blank Page Sensitivity

Indicates the Skip Blank Page Sensitivity in a scale from -5 to 5, based on the available features on the device. Higher sensitivity value means easier blank page detection.

The default vaue is 0.

ADF Auto Deskew This option enables deskewing if ADF is used.
