Business Connect Server Configuration

Business Connect Server is the interface between mobile devices running the Business Connect application and the rest of the servers in your environment that interact with AutoStore or eCopy ShareScan (Active Directory, SharePoint, Output Manager, Equitrac, and so forth). Configuring Business Connect Server is critical to ensuring that the mobile devices can interact with the various features and functions of Business Connect.

To configure Business Connect parameters, do the following:

  1. In a web browser, enter the Admin Tool URL.

    For example, enter:

    http://<machine_name>:81/AdminTool/Home

    The exact URL for your Business Connect server could be found on the Web Server tab of Business Connect Server Configuration Manager.

  2. Login with your administrator credentials.
    The built-in administrator account (admin) can be used to access Admin Tool if Business Connect Server has not been set up with AutoStore or eCopy ShareScan. The password for the built-in admin account is “admin”.
  3. From Admin Tool, click Configuration.
  4. Configure the Security, Mobile Devices, and Card Readers settings.
    Parameter Description
    Security
    Session Timeout The time (in minutes) that a user is allowed to keep an idle session before being required to re-authenticate.
    HTTP Request Timeout The time (in seconds) that the client waits for a response to an HTTP request from the server before timing-out the connection.You may need to increase the value specified by this setting if users are prompted that the Business Connect Server Client “Cannot Connect to Server” when connecting to available network resources, such as a SharePoint site or document library.
    Max # of Concurrent Users Maximum number of users that can access Business Connect Server concurrently.
    Login Retries Number of times a user is allowed to enter an incorrect password before the user’s account is locked.
    Data Caching Globally enable/disable users’ ability to use data caching (used for offline mode).
    Quick Logon Globally enable/disable users’ ability to use Quick Logon.
    Let users stay logged in If selected, users will be automatically logged in after restarting the app. If credentials changed in the meantime, then the app redirects to the login screen again. This feature is turned on by default.
    Delete Local Files after activity submission Globally enable/disable files captured on the mobile device to be deleted after being used in an activity. For example, a captured video file will be deleted after it is has been sent.
    Location
    Timeout (sec) Globally specify in seconds, how long the app should try to detect the device current location for location-enabled fields and forms.
    Force GPS use for location detection Globally enable/disable forcing the GPS use for location detection. If not enabled, the app will use GPS, Wi-Fi or mobile networks to estimate the location.
    Mobile Devices
    Max # of Devices per User Globally specifies the maximum number of devices allowed per user.
    Minimum OS version for iOS Minimum operating system version for iOS devices allowed to access Business Connect Server.
    Minimum OS version for Android Minimum operating system version for Android devices allowed to access Business Connect Server.
    Card Readers
    Enable Tap Authentication Globally enable/disable users’ ability to use authentication by tapping. Requires a Shark Micro card reader to be installed on the printing device.
    Enable Tap MFD/Printer Identification Globally enable/disable users’ ability to release print jobs by tapping their mobile device to the printer or multifunction device. Requires a Shark Micro card reader to be installed on the printing device.
    Tap Security Token Timeout (sec) Globally specify in seconds, how long security tokens should remain valid by selecting a predefined value from this list.
    Bluetooth LE Sensitivity – RSSI (iOS) Globally control BLE (Bluetooth LE) sensitivity. This setting impacts iOS devices only.
    Image Processing
    Scale Down Automatically Select this box to scale down the images to reduce the bandwidth and speed up the form submission. This option is swithched off by default.
    Maximum Dimension (pixels) Set the maximum image size to scale down the images. The default is value is 1000 pixels. It can be set between 240 and 4000 pixels.
  5. Click Save.
