Configure multiple CAS servers

In some deployments, more than one Core Accounting Servers (CAS) are required to support a large user base. One CAS can be designated as the master CAS, while all other CAS machines are referred to as subsidiary CAS. The subsidiary CAS machines transfer data to the master CAS for data consolidation.

To configure the master and subsidiary CAS servers, do the following.
  1. In Web System Manager, go to System Configuration > Global Configuration Settings > Network Environment > Multi-CAS Environment.
  2. In the Subsidiary Settings section, select the Upload data option to set the destination and time for the subsidiary CAS to uplink to the Master CAS.
    1. Select the designated master CAS from the drop-down list, or enter the CAS name if it is not listed.

CAS components older than version 6.x are not listed, and they should be entered manually.

    2. Select the Upload time for the subsidiary CAS to connect to the master CAS.
By default, Equitrac sets the uplink time at 1:00 am—a time that CAS is not heavily accessed by DRE, DCE, DME, or client workstations. If your site experiences a heavy load on CAS at 1:00 am, then change this to a different time. Sites with multiple subsidiary servers should stagger the uplink time.
The Last upload occurred textbox displays the time of the previous uplink. If there was no uplink yet, its value is ’Never’.
  3. In the Master Settings section, select the Receive and process transactions option to determine how the master CAS handle data transactions.
The transaction options must be set on the Master CAS, not the subsidiary CAS.
    • Group transactions by - the subsidiary servers bundle transactions in one of three ways:
      • No grouping. The subsidiary servers send individual transactions to the master CAS. This option allows the master CAS to view transaction and account data from all CAS servers.
      • Hour. Each subsidiary server uploads its transactions collated for each hour, where 24 transaction records are uploaded at the Upload time.)
      • Day. Each subsidiary server uploads its transactions collated for the day, where 1 transaction record is uploaded at the Upload time.)
    • Group transactions by network user - this option groups or separates the transactions per network user.
  4. Click Apply to save the changes.
