Import Active Directory users or groups

Use this procedure to import Active Directory users and groups.

Use the User and Group Import and Synchronization Wizard to import users and groups from an Active Directory source. You choose the users and groups to import from an Organizational Unit (OU) container in a specific Active Directory server.

  1. In the navigation pane of the Output Manager console, click Administration.
  2. In the Administration pane, click Manage Users.
  3. On the Users tab in the Administration - Manage Users pane, click User/Group Import Wizard.
  4. In the User and Group Import and Synchronization Wizard screen, click Import Active Directory users and groups. Click Next.
  5. In the Select Active Directory Objects from which to Import/Update screen, use the Active Directory objects tree to select the OUs, containers, and groups that contain the users you want to import. Click Next.
    • All users under the selected container will be imported, including users in containers or who are members of groups under the selected container.
    • Groups will be imported only if they are individually selected. Only security groups will be imported. Distribution groups will not be imported.
  6. In the Select Import Options screen, select any of the following options:
    • Select Add new users/group to Output Manager to import all new users and groups. This option also updates the group membership table for new users. However, if a group and its members are already in Output Manager, the membership is not updated unless you select the Update information within Output Manager for existing users/groups check box as well.
    • Select Update information within Output Manager for existing users/groups to compare all users and groups in Output Manager with all users and groups in Active Directory, and update their attributes and group membership.

If this check box is selected but the Add new users/group to Output Manager check box is not, then all users and groups that are already in Output Manager are synced.

    • During a sync, you can also select Only fill in missing values to only add incomplete information. If a value is null, it is replaced.
    • Select Remove users/groups that are not found during the import to delete users on import. Users do not have to be in the tree that is imported to be deleted.
    • You can also view or modify the user property mappings by selecting the View or modify which attributes are mapped to Output Manager Properties link.
  7. You can schedule this import as a recurring task by clicking the Create an AD Sync Scheduled Task link.
  8. Click the Import button.
Output Manager processes the import and produces a results screen.
  9. Click the Finish button.
