Configure Equitrac for use with the Unified Client for Brother

Configure the authentication for the Unified Client for Brother component to work with Equitrac authentication.

The Unified Client for Brother provides copy control, scanning, and secure printing on specific Brother manufactured Multi-Functional Products (MFPs) and Single-Functional Print (SFP) devices. When deployed to the device with server using Equitrac, the Unified Client for Brother controls access to the device, and acts as the gateway for Kofax functionality. Users must authenticate to gain access to Kofax-controlled device functions.

The Unified Client for Brother communicates with servers and tracks User activity. During a user session, device activity is captured.

This guide assumes that you are installing Equitrac (servers and embedded applications) in a Windows network environment. This guide does not provide any information for third-party software (including databases) or operating system support.

In order to apply changes to the Equitrac embedded client including Equitrac workflow settings, global settings and device settings, follow steps below:

  1. Make changes in the Equitrac Web Client.

  2. Either wait 15-30 minutes for the device token to expire for each device or apply a Force Cache Update.

Force cache update should not be applied when the server is experiencing high load, as it will create additional requests to DCE.

  3. To apply the change for a given device, walk up to the device and initiate a login request, then log out.

  4. Once the user logs in and out, at the next login request, changes made in Equitrac are in effect for the given device.

Note that User Account changes made on the server are immediate and do not require this procedure.
