Design a basic process map

A process is a logical flow of activities that must be completed in a business.

A normal process, based on a process map, runs through a set of steps that must be completed in a specific order from start to finish. For example, the process of requesting a loan consists of several steps that must occur in a logical sequence: getting customer details, getting loan approval, and contacting the customer.

Before designing a process map, familiarize yourself with the different elements of the Process designing interface.

  1. On the Home page, click Process Designer > Process.

    • The System creates a new map with some default properties.

    • By default the Modeling bar is open, and the Process model is selected.

    • The basic properties of the map appear under Properties.

    • The Start node appears on the canvas.

    • A satellite is available for the Start node and each activity and decision to add an activity, decision, annotation or attachment.

  2. Add the following:
    1. Activity

    2. Decision (optional)

    3. Annotation (optional)

    4. Attachment (optional)

    5. End node

  3. Configure the properties of the process.
  4. To link two activities, drag the mouse from one activity to another.
A line appears indicating the connection.
  5. Optionally, model your process map to add pools, lanes and collaboration activities. See Use additional modeling methods.
  6. Save and release the map.
