Create a Placeholder in a Microsoft Word document
Use this procedure to create a placeholder (such as a Date field) in a Microsoft Word document.
- Create a blank template.
- On the Insert list, select Quick Paths.
- Click Fields.
- On the Field Names list, select MergeField.
- In the box, enter a name (such as Date) for the field.

OK.
The placeholder for the field is created, such as <<Date>>. Create other placeholders, as required.
