Create a copy of a document variant

You can create a copy of a document type variant and modify as needed.

  1. On the Data Explorer, click Document Variant.
  2. Click the Extraction Group and select the document type under which the variant is created.
  3. Click the icon for the Document Variant and copy the variant either within the document type or to a child of the document type.
    • To copy the variant within the document type, click Copy. A copy of the document variant is created. The name of the document variant is prefixed with "Copy of".
    • To copy the variant to a child of a document type:
      1. Click Copy to Child. The Copy to Child page appears.

      2. From the list of child types for the document type, select the child document types to which you want to copy the variant and click OK.

        Note If the document type to which the variant is being added already has a variant with the same name, the variant is not added.
  4. Customize the document variant as needed. See Maintain document variant.
  5. Click Save.
    The created document variant appears on the list of Document Variant in the Explorer.
