Add a folder type

  1. On the Home page, click Data > Folder Type Add Folder.

    The Folder Types page appears, showing the Root Folder type by default. Change the folder name as needed.

    Under the Root Folder, you can create multiple folders.

  2. By default, the name of the root folder is displayed as Root Folder in the Name box. However, you can change the name as needed.
  3. To create a display name for a folder type, on the Properties list, select CustomText.

    A placeholder for your selection appears in the Name Template box.

    Note When upgrading TotalAgility from 7.0.0 or 7.3.0 to 7.3.1 or later, to use bar code value as folder name, in the Name Template box, replace [FolderName] or [FolderType] with [CustomText] or insert [CustomText].

    You can add folder type name, folder custom text and select a combination of fields and properties. You can use placeholders multiple times.

    Initially, the Fields list is empty. As you add fields to the Field Group under Root Folder, the fields appear in the Fields list.

    As needed, select fields. A placeholder for selected fields appear in the Name Template box.

    • A Name Template does not support variable types: Table, Choice and Boolean.

    • A Folder Type supports inherited fields and displays all fields including inherited fields.

    • At runtime, the system:

      • Replaces the folder name with the name of the folder type or the bar code value.
      • Replaces fields with the field values.

  4. Enter a Description for the folder type.
  5. Consume the Category in which to place the folder type.

    The Category option is only available for the Root Folder.

  6. Click Save.

    After you save or release the folder type:

    • You cannot open previous versions.
    • The current Version of the Folder Type appears.
    • The current Status of the Folder type appears.

  7. Click Release Save and Release.
  • You can only use the released version of folder type in a process.

  • You can move a folder in the folder hierarchy at the same level as its original place. The folder level is the number of folders between it and the root folder.

    Note You can delete a folder type even if there are jobs associated with it.
