Add an Apply Form Variant action

Use this action to apply a variant to a form so that you can adjust how the form appears at runtime based on certain criteria. When this action is executed, the latest version of the variant is applied, and the state and label text defined while creating the variant are reflected at runtime. The Apply Form Variant action is not supported on Capture forms and Device Create New Job forms.

  1. On the Form Modeling bar, click Actions.
  2. On the Actions page, click Add Generic Add.
  3. On the Type list, select Apply Form Variant.
  4. Enter a Name and Description for the action.
  5. Optionally, configure a unique action for each language separately. See Configure multilingual actions for a form or control for more information.
  6. To specify the form variant on which to apply this action, consume a global variable, form variable or form control, or use a static value with the name of a form variant in the Form Variant box.
    Note
    • If the specified variant name does not exist for the form, the base form is used.

    • Do not apply a variant created for FormA to FormB, as the form elements may not match.

  7. Click OK.

The newly created action is added to the table.

  8. To call the Apply Form Variant action upon form load, associate the action with the form. See Associate an action with a form or control for more information .
