Create a work type

  1. On the Home page, click Data > Work Type.
  2. Consume the Category to associate with the work type.
  3. Enter a unique Name for the work type, such as HousingBenefitFormDetails.
  4. Optionally, enter Metadata for the work type. See Create Metadata.

    Metadata stores supplementary information against the extended work type, similar to how file properties associated with an activity are stored.

  5. Add at least one field to the work type as follows:
    1. Enter a Display Name for the field, such as Customer Name.
    2. Select a Type, such as String.
    3. Enter a value for the field ID.

      • The field ID is usually the same as the field name.
      • Although you can use numbers in the field ID, you must start the ID with a letter.
      • Do not use any spaces in the field ID.

    4. To make a work type field available as a variable for all case fragments in an associated case, click Yes for Scope.
      Note At runtime, the variable holds the value defined for each case fragment. For more information, see Associate a work type with a process map.
    5. Click Add Add.

      TotalAgility automatically enters the position of the field.

    6. Repeat these substeps to add more fields.
      Note These fields appear in the order in which they were last saved. You can add up to 30 fields.
  6. Click Save.
