Configure an Image Quality Analysis activity

  1. Add an Image Quality Analysis activity to the map. See Add an activity.
  2. To configure input for the Image Quality Analysis activity, consume a document or folder variable in the Input Document/Folder box.
  3. On the Extended Properties page of the Image Quality Analysis activity, click the Configuration tab and configure the following threshold settings.

Setting Range Sensitivity Associated Error Code

    0 to 1000

    Sensitivity increases as value increases.

    106

    Blur Percent Threshold (Default: 70)

    0 to 1000

    Sensitivity decreases as value increases.

    106

    Undersaturation Threshold (Default: 18)

    0 to 256

    Sensitivity decreases as value increases.

    104

    Undersaturation Percent Threshold (Default: 49)

When image analysis is complete, the results are placed on each page analyzed as text extensions. Refer to the following table for error code of the quality error condition, its description and the likely cause of the error.

Error code Error description Likely cause
    0 None No errors detected.
102 Image may be missing borders. The entire document cannot be seen in the image.
103 Image may have glare. Flash is being used or a bright, point light source sits right above the location where the image was taken.
104 Image may be poorly lit. The image was taken in a dark room.
105 Image may be overly lit. The flash is on, or an extremely bright light sits directly above the location where the image was taken. A dirty lens can also cause some of the same "washout" as an overly lit image.
106 Image may be blurred. The user did not hold the camera steady.
107 Image may have shadows. Something is obstructing the direct light over a portion of the document.
108 Image may be overly skewed. The user is not holding their device parallel to the document they are capturing.
109 Image may have low contrast between the document and the background. The background of the document and the background of the surface on which the document sits are similar in color.
Note If image quality analysis detects more than one of the quality error conditions, the error code corresponds to the first condition found, but all error conditions are included in the error description. For example, if image quality analysis detects the Overly Lit and Glare error conditions, it will return 105 as error code (corresponding to Overly Lit), but include both Overly Lit and Glare in the error description.
