Configure an Image Processing activity

  1. Add an Image Processing activity to the map. See Add an activity.
  2. On the Extended Properties page of the Image Processing activity, click the Configuration tab.
  3. To configure input for an Image Processing activity, consume a Document or Folder variable in the Input Document/Folder box.
  4. Use at least one Scan/VRS profile in an Image Processing activity. By default, the Default Scan/VRS profile is associated with an Image Processing activity. To associate a different Scan/VRS profile
    You can remove the default profile, and consume a different Scan/VRS profile. Alternatively consume a variable that contains the name of the Scan/VRS profile to use.
  5. By default, the Convert Page Images to Tiff is set to Yes to improve performance. Click No to retain the original image format.

    Generate Image Thumbnails option is enabled only when you set Convert Page Images to Tiff option to No.

  6. By default, thumbnails are generated for the images with format other than Tiff. Set the Generate Image Thumbnails to No to stop generating thumbnails for the images.
  7. In the Scanned Images group, do the following:

    • To inherit page renditions from process, click Yes for Inherit from Process. The rendition fields for the activity become unavailable.

    • To save input image as page rendition, click No for Inherit from Process, click Yes for Save Input Image as Page Rendition and then select a Page Rendition. (Default: No. This means that no images are saved as page renditions.)

    If the configured page rendition already exists, the Image Processing activity does not overwrite it.

    Note When you upgrade Kofax TotalAgility, the Inherit from Process property is already set to Yes; the Save Input Image as Page Rendition property is hidden and you cannot select rendition.

  8. Click Save.

    At runtime, when you view the job or the process design in the map viewer, the Image Processing activity is displayed with the relevant properties.

    Note When processing a PDF document with Image Processing activity, ensure the Image Enhancement option is set to True in Scan/VRS Profile settings; otherwise document's page shows extra spaces in between letters and the document cannot be processed further with automatic activities, such as Classification and Extraction.

    Use the Image Processing activity for eVRS image processing and the Document Conversion activity for document conversion.
