Amount formatter

Use the Amount formatter to configure amount formats such as the decimal symbol or the currency character.

Note Amount formatter allows characters and interprets them as numbers. For example, interprets I as 1, S as 5, Z as 2 and O as 0 (zero).

  • Allow Negative Amounts: Allows negative amounts as valid input. This option is selected by default.

  • Require Decimal Points: Requires the input value to have a decimal point. This option is selected by default.

  • Allow 3 Decimal Places (1.000 ->1.000.00): Treats input values ending in three decimal places as fractions rather than whole numbers.

This group has the following options:

  • Decimal Symbol: Identifies the character to use as a decimal symbol. (Default: "<system default>"; the decimal symbol is determined by the operating system of the local computer.)

  • No. of Decimal Places: Specifies a number between 0 and 4 that defines how many decimal places are used. (Default: 2)

  • Currency: Use the Add button to insert, and Delete button to delete currency phrases. A currency phrase may be found on the document next to an amount.

  • Separator Symbol: Select one of the following symbols for thousand separator formatting:

    • <System.Default>: This means that the separator symbol is determined by the operating system of the local computer.

    • "," (Comma)

    • "." (Full stop)

When you apply this formatter to a document or folder field, the value is displayed with the selected formatting applied.

Testing

You can test the settings of an amount formatter:

In the Sample Input Text box, enter sample text, and click Format. The output appears next to Formatted Text. For example, if the number of decimal places is 3, currency is EUR and if you enter 28678 as sample text, the formatted text appears as "28678.000 Eur". If TotalAgility cannot format the sample text, a message appears.
