Configure the general properties of an activity

  1. Select the activity.
  2. On the Properties bar, click Settings Extended Properties.
Note The system populates some fields with default values. You can change the values for those fields to suit your configuration.
  3. To change the name of the activity, enter the name in the Name box.
  4. Enter a Description for the activity.
  5. Change the activity to a different activity type. See Change an activity type for more information.
  6. The Node ID box displays the ID for an activity.
You cannot modify the Node ID.
  7. Set the Priority of activities to ensure highest priority activities are picked up first. Priority indicates the level of importance of the activity with 1 being the highest priority and 100 being the lowest. Activities are processed sorted by due date and then priority.
  8. Select the Security Level.
Note This property is only available for ordinary activities.
  9. Select the Skill Level.
Note You can only assign that activity to a resource whose skill level falls within the maximum and minimum skill levels of a resource. For example, if the skill level for an activity is 4, a resource having the maximum skill level of 5 and minimum of 8 cannot perform this activity. A resource with a maximum skill level of 3 and minimum of 8 can perform this activity. See Set the skill levels of a resource. This property is only available for ordinary activities.
  10. To associate a file (form) with an activity, enter the path to the file in the Associated File Path box.

When you generate a Take Activity or a Multiview Activity form based on this activity, the form name appears in the Associated File Path box or it can be manually populated. See Configure the advanced properties of a form for more information. When a user takes an activity, they are redirected to the form specified in the Associated File Path property. If the property is blank, the user is redirected to the generic Take Activity form.

Note This property is only available for ordinary activities.

  11. By default, an activity uses the default color (see Node colors). To change the color of an activity within the process, do the following:
    1. Select Color for Node Color.
    2. Click the Down arrow. The Color palette opens.
    3. Select the color and click Done.

The selected color is applied to the activity.

  12. Use the Target Duration to gauge productivity and to determine how long the user can take to complete the activity. For example, if the expected duration of an activity is 5 minutes, the user must spend not more than 5 minutes on the activity. A user who spends 10 minutes instead of 5 has a 50% productivity rating. Set the expected length of an activity using static or dynamic values:
    • To specify a fixed target duration, select Time, and enter values for Days, Hours, Minutes and Seconds.

    • To dynamically specify the target duration, click Variable and consume the variable in the Target Duration box.

Note Use only Short or Long type variables for dynamic target duration.

  13. Set the Target Due Date. See Configure the target due date for more information.
  14. Set the Expected Cost to determine how much the activity is expected to cost upon completion.
  15. Set the Fixed Cost to determine the cost of the activity irrespective of the length (duration).
  16. Set the Service Level Agreement. See Set the SLA status indicator for an activity for more information.
  17. Click Save.
