Work with business rules

Open and modify a business rule

  1. On the Process Designer Explorer, click Business Rules.

    A list of all the business rules appears.

  2. Click the icon for the business rule and click Open or click the business rule.
  3. Make the changes, and click Save.

Copy a business rule

Copy an existing business rule to use as a template for new rules. When you create a copy of a rule, the latest version of the released rule is copied, and the new rule is saved as version 0.01.

  1. On the Process Designer Explorer, click Business Rules.
  2. Click the icon for the business rule to copy, and click Copy.

    A copy of the rule opens.

  3. Modify the rule as required and click Save.
  4. Click Release Save and Release to release the rule.

Open a version of a business rule

  1. On the Process Designer Explorer, click Business Rules.

    A list of all the business rules appears.

  2. Click the icon for the business rule to open, and click Versions.
  3. Click the version to open.

Delete a business rule

Delete the latest or specific version of a rule.

  1. On the Process Designer Explorer, click Business Rules.

    A list of all the business rules appears.

  2. Click the button for the business rule to delete and click Delete.
  3. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
    Note To delete specific versions of the rule, select the version and click Delete. The selected version and all the previous versions are deleted. For example, if you select to delete version 3, the version 1 and version 2 are also deleted.

Unlock a business rule

Unlock the latest or specific version of a rule.

  1. On the Process Designer Explorer, click Business Rules.
  2. Click the icon for the business rule to unlock, and click Unlock.
  3. Click Yes to confirm.
  4. Click OK.

Unlock a specific version of a business rule

  1. On the Process Designer Explorer, click Business Rules.
  2. Click the icon for the business rule to unlock, and click Versions.
  3. Click the icon for the version to unlock and click Unlock.
  4. Click Yes to confirm.
  5. Click OK.

Revert a business rule to a previous version

Revert a business rule to create a new version of the rule based on an earlier version. All the items of the selected version are available in the newer version. For example, during Christmas sale, the garment company might have initiated extra discount on certain brands. Therefore saved and released to create a new version of the rule and immediately put it to use. However, after the season is over, the company opts to revert to the previous version to remove additional discount. You might then want to pick the earlier business rule version and quickly replace the current version. When you revert to a previous version, the latest changes made to the rule are discarded, and the previous version of the rule is saved as the latest version.

  1. Verify that the business rule is not open.
  2. On the Process Designer Explorer, click Business Rules.
  3. Click the button for the process, and click Versions.
  4. Click the button for the version of the process to revert to, and then click Revert.

    A confirmation message appears asking you to save or release the new version.

  5. Click Save or Release.

    A new version of the business rule is created.
