Configure triggers for an activity

Use an escalation map or an alert task to create an activity trigger.

Use an escalation map

Use an escalation map to create a specific job to deal with the activity trigger.
Note Only use the escalation maps of type Process. You must assign variables to the escalation maps as initialization parameters to track the source of the trigger. See Triggers and initialization map parameters for more information.
  1. Select the activity to create a trigger.
  2. On the Extended Properties page, click the Triggers tab.
  3. Click Trigger for Type.
  4. Consume the required map in the box.
  5. Enter number of days, hours, minutes and/or seconds when the trigger should execute.

    • If no target duration is set (value = 0), the trigger will execute when the activity due date is met.

    • If the target duration is set, such as 2 days and 3 hours, the trigger will execute 2 days and 3 hours after the activity due date has past.

    • If the target duration is set, such as 1 day and the Negative (-) check box is selected, the trigger will execute 1 day before the activity due date.

  6. Click Add .
