  2. Select the Folder Type for which to add a field validation rule, and click the Field Validation tab.
  3. Click Add Add for Validation Rules.

The Validation Rule page appears with the configurations.

  4. Enter a Name for the field validation rule.
  5. Select the Type as Standard. See Validation Methods for more information.
  6. Click Yes for Check for Minimum Length, and enter or select the minimum number of characters allowed for the result.

If an extracted result is shorter than the minimum length, the field is marked as invalid.

  7. Click Yes for Check for Maximum Length, and enter or select the maximum number of characters allowed for the result.

If the extracted result is longer than the maximum length, the field is marked as invalid.

  8. Click Yes to Restrict Allowed Character Set, and enter the characters that are not allowed in the result.

If a field contains characters other than the restricted set, the field is marked invalid and needs review by a validation operator.

  9. Click Yes for Define Unallowed Characters, and enter the characters that are not allowed in the result.

If a result contains one of these characters, the field is marked as invalid and needs review by a validation operator.

  10. Click Yes for Allow Empty Field If Other Options are Chosen to allow an empty field to be valid.

If you do not select this option, empty fields are marked as invalid.

Note This option is only available if one of the parameters is selected.
  11. To test the standard validation settings, enter sample text in Test Input Text box and click Validate.

A message appears below the Test Input Text box to inform if the rule is valid, and displays the reason if it is not.

  12. Click OK.

    The Validation Rules page appears.

  13. Click Save.
