Display properties of a Job Action Button control

The following actions are available on a Job Action control, depending on the state of the selected job or case. These actions are displayed by default and are configurable. If you choose not to display any action, the option to perform the action is not available at runtime.

View Job

Use to display a visual representation of the job and its current progress in the process viewer.

Place On Hold

Use to place a job on hold and delay event processing for the amount of time that you specify. When a job is placed on hold, no activities are available on any work queues and no processing is done for the specified hold time. The exceptions, milestones and triggers are affected. When the hold time expires, the job automatically moves to active status and the job activities become pending. You can reactivate jobs on hold at any time.

Suspend
Use to suspend an activated job. When a job is suspended, no activities available on any work queues.
Terminate

Use to end a job. Once you terminate a job, all activities within the selected job are removed.

Activate

Use to re-activate a suspended job, or remove a job from hold status. When you re-activate a job, the job continues from the point where it was stopped.

Recover

Use to re-evaluate a failed job with a status of Ready for Evaluation. The Recover action restarts the job evaluation from the point where the previous evaluation failed. For example, if a dynamic resource variable assigned to an activity contains invalid data, the job evaluation fails because the system cannot determine which resource to assign to the activity.

Add Note

Use to add a job note (of default type) to a job. The note creator is set to the currently logged-on resource and the timestamp is also set.

Add notes to a job to include information such as a date or resource name. For example, add a note to indicate that the job cannot progress to the next stage because the resource is on leave.

Change Owner

Use to change the owner of the job; or select a different resource (for example, worker or group). If any activities are assigned to the job owner, the assignment is updated automatically. Only the current owner, or supervisor of the current owner can change the owner.

Note If you currently own a job or if you are the supervisor, you can change the owner of a job at runtime. The first owner is the person who created the job.

Change State

Use to change the current state of the job to one of the predefined states.

Re-Evaluate Skin

Skins are sets of predefined rules that initiate different operational behavior of a process. At job creation, TotalAgility evaluates the rules to ensure that the correct skin is applied.

If you modify the data of a process template in TotalAgility, you can re-evaluate the skin without creating a job again to get the updated values.

Re-Evaluate Score

Use to change values directly within the job and re-evaluate the score when viewing the job score from job properties in the TotalAgility Workspace.

Re-Evaluate Preconditions

Setting a precondition against an activity keeps the activity from the Pending status until the precondition is met.

If TotalAgility Workspace raises an event against a job, yet for reasons, such as database connection issue, cannot complete a precondition evaluation, the status of the activity becomes Awaiting Events.

The Awaiting Events status is similar to the Pending status except that the activity does not appear on anyone's work queue and no activity notification is sent.

Use the Re-Evaluate Pre-Conditions option to complete the following tasks:

  • Reevaluate activities in a job that have an Awaiting Events status.

  • Manually change a precondition after starting a job that needs all activities reevaluated against the new precondition value.

Create a Job

Use to start a job, such as creating a new job, case or fragment.

Add Task

Use to add an ad hoc task to a job.

Suggest Redesign

Use to add a note to a process, for example to suggest design changes.

Change Priority

Use to change the priority of a job .

Escalate to Supervisor
Use to change the owner of the job to supervisor (if available) of the logged-on user. If the logged on user does not have a supervisor a message appears.
Manage Documents
Use to display the document set for the job.
