Define triggers for budget escalations
Before setting up a trigger for budget escalation, you must first allocate an estimated budget to your business process; otherwise, you cannot create a budget trigger.

- On the Extended Properties page of the process, click the Triggers tab.

To handle escalation, use either option for
Type:

Trigger: To use a process map to handle the budget escalation, consume the map.
You can only use a Process type map for a budget trigger; you cannot use a case or a case fragment. -
Alert: See Create an alert task.

- Click Budget for Trigger Type.
- In the Fire Trigger at box, enter or select a percentage of budget spend when the trigger should be executed. For example, to execute a trigger when 80% of your budget is spent, set Fire Trigger at 80 % of Budget. To execute another trigger when you have overspent the budget by 20%, set Fire Trigger at 120% of Budget.

The budget trigger takes into account resource costing associated with ALL tasks defined in the map including embedded and subjob processes.
