Add processes to simulate
-
To add a process to a simulation, on the
Simulation
page,
consume the required process in the
Processes
box.
The selected process opens.
-
In the
Properties panel, click
Settings
.
The Extended Properties page appears. The name of the process appears as read-only.
-
By default, the simulation uses the latest version of the process.
To use another version, click
No and select the version
to use on the
Version list.
Once you select a version, you cannot revert to an older version.
- In the Job Creation Time box, enter the time required by a resource to create a new job.
- Configure the work profiles for simulation.
-
To override the activation probability for a node in a simulation
process:
- Select the node for which to override the activation probability.
- In the Properties panel, click Yes for Override Activation Probability.
- Enter or select the value.
Configure work profiles for simulation
All processes used within a simulation must have a workload. Set the process to create the workload either manually or automatically.
Automatically create simulated workloads
Automatic workloads are based on historical workload data retrieved from the PI database for the selected map. A simulation always simulates historical workloads on an hourly basis, creating all the jobs at the start of the hour. For example, during the historical workload period for a process, if for the first hour, 10 jobs were created spread across the first hour, and 20 jobs were created spread across the next hour, then on simulating this process, 10 jobs are created in one extraction group at the start of the simulation, and 20 jobs are created in one extraction group at the start of the second hour.
- On the General tab of the Extended Properties page of the process associated with a simulation, click Historical.
- Enter or select the required date and time.
- Enter or select the required percentage of the historical workload.
- Click Add .
Manually create simulated workloads
- On the General tab of the Extended Properties page of the process associated with a simulation, click Manual.
-
Enter or select the time the workload should start after the
simulation begins. For example, if the start time is set to two hours, the
workload starts two hours after the simulation starts. A workload start time
differs depending on absolute or relative time. See the Timeframes property in
Create a simulation.
-
For absolute time, select a date.
-
For relative time, enter time in days, hours and/or minutes.
If the start time is not set, that is if it is left as 0, the workload is added at the start of the simulation.
-
- In the Number of Jobs box, enter or select the number of jobs to create for the selected process.
-
To specify how often the jobs should be created, select either
option:
-
Once: Creates jobs only once.
-
Every: To enter the frequency of job creation, enter or select the duration in days, hours, and minutes.
-
-
To specify when this workload should stop running, select
either option:
-
Duration: Select the number of days, hours, and minutes.
-
Occurrences: Enter the number of occurrences after which the workload must stop.
-
- Click Add .
