Configure the capture properties of a process

  1. On the Extended Properties page of a process, click the Capture tab.
  2. Associate a Classification Group with a process to help classify documents, and consume the group in the Classification Group box.

See Define a Classification Group for more information.

  3. To extract the text from PDF, select one of the following options:
    • All Text: Extracts both visible and invisible text (default).

    • Visible Text Only: Extracts only visible texts.

    • Automatic: Extracts only visible text. If results are empty, then extracts by including invisible text in the results.

    • Ignore All Text Layer: Extracts PDF through OCR. PDF text layer is ignored.

  4. In the Word Separation Characters box, enter the characters that you need as word separators. Default characters are: "/", ":", "(", ")", "-" and "#".

When processing the PDF text, strings of text containing these characters are treated as separate words. For example, "1234/56" is treated as three separate words, "1234", "/", and "56".

  5. To specify whether a process can be considered as a capture process so that the data within Kofax Analytics for TotalAgility reports can be used to filter the data returned, click Yes for Capture Process. (Default: No)
  6. Click Yes for Initialize From Scan to create a capture-enabled process. A capture-enabled process lets you create the Scan Create New Job form and Device Create New Job form on the process. At runtime, when you capture documents, TotalAgility initiates the process automatically.
    Note
    • A capture-enabled process must have an initialization variable of Document or Folder type; otherwise, you cannot save the process.

    • A map can only have one initialization variable of Document or Folder type; it cannot have multiple initialization variables of Document or Folder type.

  7. To associate a Separation profile with a process to separate documents and assign folders to them during processing, consume the separation profile in the Separation Profile box. See Create separation profile.

The Separation Profile property is only enabled if the Initialize From Scan property is set to Yes.

  8. By default, the Default Scan/VRS profile is associated with a capture-enabled process. To associate additional Scan/VRS profiles with a process, consume the Scan/VRS profile in the Scan/VRS Profiles box. See Create a Scan/VRS profile.
Note The System always takes the first profile as the default profile. To change the order of the profiles and use another profile as the default, use the Up and Down buttons.
  9. Optionally, consume a Separation profile in the Device Separation Profile and Scan/VRS profile in the Device Scan/VRS Profile box to associate the profiles with a process to perform image processing and document separation on Device Create New Job forms.
    Note
    • If you do not associate a Scan/VRS profile, the default Scan/VRS profile settings are applied. However, if Device Scan/VRS profile is not specified, image processing will be skipped.

    • The Separation profile associated with the process is used to process the job.

    • The pages removed by Scan/VRS profile and Separation profile do not decrement imaging volume licenses.

  10. To save a scanned image as a rendition, click Yes for Save Input Image as Page Rendition (default: No) and select a Page Rendition from the list.
Note The image renditions options are only available when the Initialize from Scan option is set to Yes.
  11. You can disallow modification of documents and images that are imported but not scanned so that you do not loose the original data.
    • To disable merge or split of documents and deletion of pages, click No for Merge or Split Document and Delete Page. (Default: Yes)
    • To disable rotation of images and reorder of pages, click No for Rotate Image and Reorder Page. (Default: Yes)
  12. Click Save.
