Log Files

During installation or operation of the software, problems may be encountered. Diagnosis of the problem by Equitrac Support Services often requires use of logs generated during the problem situation. This chapter covers the steps necessary to initiate logging and how to acquire the logs after they are created. This chapter covers Device Application Logs and Installer Logs. Server Logs (logs of server activity) are not covered in this section.

If the problem occurs during installation and the Installer reports a failed install, you need to obtain Installer Logs. See Obtaining Equitrac Embedded Installer Log Files.

If the problem occurs after the Installer has reported a successful install, you need to obtain Device Application Logs. You have two options for obtaining Device Application Logs—from the device, or the server. See Obtaining Device Application Logs from the Server.
