DWS failover scenarios
The following examples illustrate how you can configure DWS failover, depending on your environment.
Scenario 1
In this scenario, a block of MFP devices are using DWS 1 as prime, with DWS 2, 3, and 4 as failover. A second block of MFP devices are using DWS 5 as prime, with DWS 6, 7, and 8 as failover. The DWS nodes are set up with DCE 1 through 4 and DCE 5 through 8, respectively. There is an AutoStore server for each set of DWS nodes and a single CAS server for all of the DCE nodes.
Scenario 2
There are two blocks of MFP devices that share one set of DWS nodes. To load balance the setup, the administrator configured half of the devices to use DWS 1 as prime (with DWS 2, 3, and 4 as failover) and half of the devices to use DWS 4 as prime (with DWS 3, 2, and 1 as failover). The DCE failover remains the same, but can also split the DCE nodes to use 1 through 4 for the half of the devices and 4 through 1 for the other half.
