Start from Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint

To start PDF Convert from Microsoft Excel or PowerPoint, use the Kofax PDF tab. You can open PDF/XPS files whose contents should be converted to a spreadsheet or slide format.

  1. Open PDF/XPS icon Click Open PDF/XPS in the Kofax PDF tab.

    The Open dialog box appears.

  2. Browse to select a PDF or XPS file and click Open.
  3. The Convert Assistant appears in Left View, with the appropriate target already set.
  4. Select processing and output options, including the setting of a page range.
  5. Convert All icon Click the Convert All tool; the converted file appears in Excel or PowerPoint.

  • To convert multiple files, use Convert Assistant independently of Excel or PowerPoint.

  • Convert Area icon Use the Export Area tool in Power PDF at Advanced Processing > Export to export only part of a page. This is useful for Excel to export tables without other page content, and for preparing slides in PowerPoint, where a full PDF page contains too much material for a typical slide.   • Convert Assistant can export to XLS or XLSX file types. Select Generate Office 2007/2010 output to set the XLSX file type.

    Convert Assistant always exports to PPTX. To handle these files with PowerPoint 2002 or 2003, you must have the Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack installed on your computer. This pack is available from the download pages on the Microsoft website.
