Kofax PDF Settings for Excel

Creation Settings icon

Click the Creation Settings button in Microsoft Excel on the Kofax ribbon, or use the corresponding menu item to open the Kofax PDF Settings for Excel dialog box. Use the dialog box to specify settings for all PDF files you create from Excel.

Settings tab

Select the first check box to have bookmarks created from worksheet names when converting an entire workbook. Select more check boxes to transfer comments and hyperlinks into the PDF; clear check boxes to ignore items. When a link targets a different document, select the addressing method via the full or relative path name. A full path is suitable when both files reside on, or are accessible to, your local computer. A relative path is better if the files are to be transferred to a different computer. Select the lower check box to always change the target document extension to .pdf in the link. Then, if the targeted file is not a PDF, you must create a PDF from it, with the same name and location.

Select Create PDF from Entire Workbook to make a PDF from the whole workbook. Clear the option to create a PDF only from the current worksheet.

Advanced Settings tab

Click Advanced Settings and select Embed Metadata to transfer the subject, author, keywords and other defined metadata from the Office document to the PDF. Any data category not supported by the PDF Document Information structure is added as a custom field. This prevents the need to re-enter existing text in the Document Settings dialog box. Any data entered in the Document Settings dialgo box is ignored if Embed Metadata is enabled. The Advanced Settings tab also lets you display the Kofax PDF Create Properties panel for further settings, which include the instructions for naming the PDF files and their target locations.
