Specify a SharePoint site name

To specify a site name, make a choice under Site Selection:

  • Connect to a SharePoint server top-level site.
    1. Select the option I want to select one of the top-level sites.
    2. Provide a server name
    3. Select the Secure Server check box to use the secured HTTPS protocol or clear the check box to use the normal HTTP protocol.
    4. Click Connect.
    5. Type in your user name and password if SharePoint prompts you to do so.
    6. When connected, the Site Name selection box will offer all available site names; select the preferred one.
  • Provide the URL of a SharePoint server top-level site or library.
    1. Select the option I know the exact URL of the site.
    2. To specify a precise URL, it is easiest to browse to it through your internet browser, copy the URL and paste it into the URL text box.
Example You can either specify a top-level site, in this case the URL you enter in the text box is the URL that specifies the site, for example:
      https://myserver/sites/mysite

      or

      http://myserver/mysite

You can also specify a library under a top-level site. In this case you have to select the check box URL specifies a library. The URL must contain the library name, but no further, for example:

      http:// myserver /mysite/Default

    3. Click Connect.
    4. If the connection succeeds, type the display name of the selected site.
  • Connect to an Office 365 site.
    1. Select this option to create a new connection to an Office 365 site or library as described in the I know the exact URL of the site option above. The only difference is that in this case you are not required to connect to Office 365 before creating the connection.

Note You can select a selected site as default, so it becomes the one offered whenever you interact with SharePoint.
