Clip Art panel

The Clip Art panel is available from the Panel bar when you select the following tool:

Clipart icon If you do not see this tool, right-click in an empty area of the Panel bar and select it.

Use this panel to insert both system and custom clip art, and rename or delete clip art.

Options icon All commands are accessible from the Options tool context menu.

Note Both system and custom clip art can be renamed or deleted. The initial set of system clip art can be restored at any time: Select Reset Clip Art from the Options menu and specify whether to replace the current selection or add to it.

Collapse or expand Clip Art list nodes

  • Collapse icon Click to collapse the display, so that all group names are visible.
  • Expand icon Click to expand the display again.

Insert clip art

  1. Open the document and the Clip Art panel.
  2. Display the page where you want to insert clip art.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • Drag an item from the Clip Art panel to the required position.

    • Right-click a clip art item and select Insert from the shortcut menu.

    • Select a clip art item, and then drag a rectangle in the required size with the resulting cursor shape. When you release the button, the clip art appears on the page inside the rectangle. Resize as necessary.

Create custom clip art

  1. Create Click Create in the Clip Art panel.

    The Select Image dialog box appears.

  2. Specify a file type and browse for a source file to be reused in future as clip art.

    Note You can select a multi-page image file, but only one page can be placed. Use the navigation arrows in the Select Image dialog box to select the desired page.

  3. Assign a group and a name. The group can be an existing one or a new one. The name must be unique within the group.
  4. Click OK.

    The newly created custom clip art appears in the Clip Art panel at the end of the specified group.

Find text in a clip art or group name

  1. Find icon Click the Find tool on the Clip Art panel toolbar.
  2. Enter a text string to look for in the Find Clip Art dialog box and click Find.
  3. Thumbnails containing the specified text either in their names or in their group names are displayed in the Clip Art panel.

Rename clip art

  1. Right-click a clip art item in the Clip Art panel.
  2. Select Rename in the shortcut menu.

Delete clip art

  1. Right-click a clip art item in the Clip Art panel.
  2. Select Delete in the context menu.
