Create PDF files from the File menu

The File menu includes several options for creating a PDF:

Create PDF files directly without PDF Create Assistant

Current PDF output settings are used for the conversion, as defined in the Power PDF Create Properties dialog box that you can access through File > Print. In this case, profiles are not available.

  1. Click File > New > From File.
  2. Click Create a PDF from a single file.

    An Open file dialog box appears.

  3. Keep All files as file type or select one file type.

    If you accept All files, no settings can be made. If you use a single file type, then a dialog box may appear with the pertained file type settings.

  4. Select one or more input files, and then click Open.

    Multiple files can be selected, even if they were created in different applications.

    Each file is saved into the input folder, under the original names to separate PDF files, and displayed in separate document windows.

Create PDF files through PDF Create Assistant

  1. Click File > New > From File.
  2. Click any of the following items on the right:
    • Create Multiple Files

    • Combine Multiple Files into a single PDF

    • Overlay Multiple Files into a single PDF

PDF Create Assistant starts and lets you build up a file list, select a profile and make other settings before beginning PDF creation.

Create a Blank PDF

Go to File > Options > New Document and check that the page size, default margins and font choices are suitable.

  1. Click File > New > Blank PDF.

    An empty document (named as Untitled_n) opens in a new window or tab. The Home ribbon turns to Advanced Edit mode.

Create a PDF from Clipboard content

Go to File > Options > New Document and check that the page size, default margins and font choices are suitable.

  1. Click File > New > From Clipboard.

    A new document (named as Clipboard_n) opens in a new window or tab, containing the content of Clipboard.

Create PDF from scanner input

Check scanner settings before using the scanner input.

Important If this is the first time that you are using a specific scanning device with the program, you have to configure it through the Scanner Setup Wizard.

  1. Click File > New > From Scanner.
  2. Click one of the following items on the right:
    • Create new PDF from scanner

    • Append new scan to current file

Create PDF from a web page

You may convert a complex web page to a PDF document.

To convert a Web page to PDF, do the following:

  1. Click File > New > From Web Page.
  2. Enter the required URL or click Browse and locate the HTML starting page with the standard file open dialog box.
  3. Adjust basic settings in the Settings section.
    1. Set the depth of link processing by selecting one of these options:

      • Specify the depth of link processing in the Get only numeric box
      • Select the Get entire site option to follow internal links throughout an unlimited number of levels.

    2. Optionally, select Stay on the same path.
    3. Optionally, select Stay on the same server to ignore links referring to external pages.
    4. Optionally, click Settings to start the Web Page Conversion Settings dialog box, and specify page properties and scaling options.
  4. Click Create to start the conversion. You can click Stop any time to cease the discovery and conversion process.
    Note Partial conversion results remain, even if you did break the process.

    The PDF document remains opened after the conversion, and you should save it manually.
