Word file open preferences

The settings in the Conversion Settings dialog box take effect when conversion is started from the Microsoft Word Open dialog box or from the Kofax PDF tab. You can either select a processing mode for direct conversion in advance, or decide to use the Convert Assistant.

Conversion Settings To display the PDF Converter Settings dialog box from Microsoft Word, click the Conversion Settings button in the Convert to Word group on the Kofax PDF tab.

The dialog box offers the following options:

  • Use Kofax Convert Assistant: Call Convert Assistant each time processing a PDF/XPS document in Word.

  • Automatically Convert as Standard Documents: Perform a direct conversion using the Standard Documents settings each time processing a PDF/XPS document in Word. See Standard Document for details.

  • Automatically Convert as Forms: Perform a direct conversion using the Forms settings each time processing a PDF/XPS document in Word. See Form details.

  • Automatically Convert as Legals: Perform a direct conversion using the Legal settings each time processing a PDF/XPS document in Word. See Legal for details.

Click OK to save your choice.

Note When direct conversions are done from Microsoft Outlook, the processing mode and target are defined in the Settings dialog box. Direct conversions are offered in Windows Explorer through items in the shortcut menu for PDF or XPS files.
