Obtaining Device Application Logs from the Device

Device Application Logs can be gathered from the device directly using a Java Console Application. This approach to gathering Device Application Logs is the preferred approach as it collects the logs for the duration of a specific period. This approach fails if the application is not installed, or there is no network connection to the device. You must be able to ping the device before using this approach.

To use these instructions, you must acquire a copy of the EquitracEsfConsole.jar for Lexmark from Equitrac Support Services.

Prerequisites to enable console logging:

  • Access to a computer with privileges to install software, and physical network access.
  • Enable debug in the configuration from the MFP.

There are three ways to enable logging debug logging:

  • Through computer setup and installation.
  • Through the device configuration.
  • Through the login configuration web page.
