Register swipe cards

When a user swipes an unregistered card, they are required to log in to the device with valid user credentials in order to register their card. The information the user must enter depends upon the authentication options that are set in Web System Manager.

To register your swipe card for the first time, do the following:

  1. Swipe the magnetic stripe card or proximity card at the card reader attached to the device. The login screen indicates that the login failed. You need to manually log in to register the card.
  2. Enter your User ID (and Password if configured in Web System Manager to prompt for Secondary PIN) within one minute of swiping the card to associate the user login credentials to the unregistered card.
    The swipe card is registered in Web System Manager once the login credentials have been authenticated by CAS.
  3. Optionally, if Web System Manager is configured to prompt for a billing code after user authentication, then the user may need to enter a billing code to access the MFP Service screen.

The user can now manage their documents with SDR, or access any of the other device features, such as copying, scanning and faxing.

The next time the user swipes their card they can log in without manually entering their User ID. Depending on how Web System Manager is configured, the user may be prompted for their password.
