Prerequisites: Before You Install

You must have administrative access (including valid Windows network credentials with assigned administrative rights) to both the MFP and to the network computer hosting the Equitrac server components to install and configure Equitrac Embedded for HP OXP. It is possible that the administrative credentials on the MFP are different from the Windows network credentials.

Your HP technician will provide the default administrative credentials for the MFP.

Before you begin the installation, do the following:

  • Ensure you have met the requirements for your MFPs and Equitrac installation. See the Kofax ControlSuite Installation Help for more information.
  • Install .NET 4.0 SP1.
  • Install or update, license, and configure Equitrac. For more information, see the Equitrac documentation.
  • Obtain the IP address for the Equitrac DCE (Device Control Engine) server(s).
  • Obtain the IP address of the HP devices you will install the Equitrac Embedded for HP OXP solution on.
  • Create a folder called “bin” in the following location on your network drive or local machine running DCE: C:\Program Files\Nuance\Equitrac\Device Control Engine\HP OXPd.
  • Download the Equitrac Embedded for HP OXP installation software for your HP devices and save it to the “bin” folder. See Download the Equitrac Embedded Software.
  • Configure the Admin ID and Password for the associated HP devices. See Configuring Administrator Credentials on page 9.
  • Configure the HTTP Server ports. See Configuring HTTP Settings on page 10.
  • Configure user access control for the device in the HP Web Administration page.
  • Ensure that the Stored Jobs feature on the MFP is disabled. Equitrac cannot accurately track documents saved to Device Memory or documents released (printed) from Device Memory.
