Decommission a live node automatically

A live Security Framework node can be decommissioned (removed) from a datacenter through Configuration Assistant.

Before decommissioning a node, ensure that the following are in place:

  • The system is running ControlSuite 1.3.0.
  • A functioning security framework cluster.
    • Two (2) security framework nodes is the minimum for HA (Kofax recommendation).
    • Three (3) security framework nodes is best for maximum redundancy.
  • Have access to the server running the security framework node to decommision.
  • Have the security framework user name and password available.
  • Prepare to run the client configuration tool on each workstation that is pointing to the security framework node to be removed.
    • The security client configuration tool is installed with the ControlSuite 1.3 Fix Pack 3 Print Client and is located in C:\Program Files\Kofax\Equitrac\Client\NDI.SecClientConfig.

Expectations while removing a node

  • ControlSuite should continue to run as long as at least one other security framework node is up and available online.
  • Workstations clients should continue to work if they are currently running.
Workstation clients may fail to connect after the node has been removed from the datacenter if the workstations are restarted without running the client configuration tool to redirect the workstations to another available security framework node.
  • Removing the node will take time – up to 10 minutes.

Once you are ready to remove a security framework node, go to Remove a node in Configuration Assistant.

After the node is removed, go to Security client configuration utility to reconfigure the client workstations.
