Track color copies and prints using Fujifilm tiered billing

Tiered billing refers to a pricing scheme for color copies and prints based on the amount of actual color printed on the page, as opposed to a flat rate regardless of coverage.

Tiered billing requires additional configuration steps and must meet the following requirements:

  • A Fujifilm color device enabled for tiered billing.
  • The Xerox supported Fujifilm device with the Network Accounting module installed and enabled, and Authentication (Network Accounting option) enabled.
  • Costing using the Equitrac Advanced price list with the prices set to reflect the tiered billing options.
  • The Fujifilm print tracking must be used instead of the printer port monitor.
  • Print-to-Me requires that the tracking behavior in Web System Manager must be set to Track and do not record print transactions on this device. If the tracking behavior is not set to this option, then the job is recorded twice—once by the device and once by the port monitor.
  • Validation of the Fujifilm data must be disabled on the Fujifilm device to prevent it from discarding the print job.

The cost of the job displayed in the Print-to-Me screen on the Fujifilm device does not reflect the tiered billing price. However, once the job is released from the print queue, the tiered pricing information from the The Fujifilm log is recorded into the CAS database.

To set tiered billing for the Fujifilm device, do the following:

  1. Open Web System Manager and select System Configuration > Pricing.
  2. Select Advanced from the Add Price List list. An Advanced Price List page opens.
  3. Enter a Name and Description for the price list.
  4. Set the Job Attributes, such as base price, finishing operations, and subcharges.
  5. In the Page Detail Pricing section, click Add to open the Add Page Detail Pricing dialog box.
    1. Select the attributes from the Type, Size, Color, Duplex, Tray, and Media lists.
    2. Select the appropriate Fujifilm billing tier from the Col-type list.
    3. Enter a Price for the page detail pricing rule.
    4. Click OK to save your Xerox tiered price list.
