Install the embedded application

Before installing the Embedded application, see the Installation and Configuration Requirements. The following instructions are for a typical installation, and the screen and/or menu options may vary slightly.

Before configuring Equitrac Embedded for Kyocera, you need the following:

  • The .pkg file relevant to your particular Kyocera device. These files are typically provided by Kyocera.
  • A USB drive to hold the .pkg file.
    USB flash drive capacities larger than 2 gigabytes are not recommended. The MFP device may not be able to read the larger drive sizes. The drive must be formatted using the FAT32 file system as devices cannot read NTFS formatted drives.
    Some Kyocera devices do not have in-device hard disk drives. In instances where there is no on-device storage, you must provide external storage such as an SD drive which can remain attached to the MFP (note some older MFP models require CF drives). See the user manual for your particular device for instructions about installing additional storage, if needed.

To install the Kyocera Embedded application, do the following:

  1. Locate and insert the flash drive containing the software in a USB port on the MFP. The location of the USB port varies by device.
  2. On the MFP, press the System Menu physical button.
  3. Navigate to the Favorites/Application System Menu option using the arrow keys and select it. (Some MFPs list this option as Application)
  4. Log in to the MFP with administrator privileges.
  5. Select Application from the list of Favorites/Applications. The Application options display.
    If Equitrac is already in the list of applications, the Embedded device is installed, and does not be to be reinstalled.
  6. Select the + button at the top right of the display. A list of available sources display. By default, this list includes the .pkg file housed on your removable storage. A3 devices use an Add button instead of the + button.
  7. Select the Equitrac Embedded option.
  8. Select the Install button. The embedded solution installs.
  9. Ensure the Equitrac Embedded application is selected, then select the Menu button.
  10. From the Menu options, select Activate to enable the Embedded application.
  11. Follow the on screen prompts to add the server name/IP address.
