Configure an Add document type activity
Configure an Add document type activity within a process, case and case fragment. This activity is not supported in a business rule.
Add an activity to the map.
By default, the Configuration tab is open in the properties panel of the activity.
- Change the default Name of the activity to something meaningful.

To add a document set activity to the process, you must turn on Document set from the process Modeling bar. By default, the Document set is turned off.
- Enter a Name for the document type.
- Optional. Enter the Description for the document type.
- On the Document type list, select a document type.
- Optional. On the Document upload process list, select a process on which a job is created at runtime, when a document of this type is uploaded.
Configure rules for a document set so that a process can only continue once certain criteria are met. A document set
rule gives complete visibility to the status of the documents required to complete a process. To define a basic or advanced rule,
select either option on the
Basic (default): If you require the document, keep the Document required check box selected and specify the Number of documents (default: 1), Date required and Document due exception.If you clear the
Document requiredcheck box, the
Number of documents,
Document due exceptionsettings are not available.
Advanced: Select a business rule on the Business rule list and specify the Date required and Document due exception.
The business rule must have input variable of type String, and output variables of type String and Boolean.
- To specify a date by when the documents must be received, select a process variable or milestone on the Date required list.
Optional. To raise an exception at the specified interval so that action can be taken when the required documents are
not received by the specified date, select a process or case on the
Document due exception list and specify the
By default, an exception is raised only once. To raise the exception multiple times until the document rule has passed, select Every and specify the interval in number of days/hours/minutes after which the exception should be raised again.At runtime, a job is created when the due date for this document type has passed and an exception is raised.
To restrict the document type from display, select
Restricted. (Default: Clear)
At runtime, if you view the document set in Customer mode, the restricted document type is not displayed.
