Define a standard metric

Use this procedure to define a standard metric.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • From the Guide section, under Define metrics, click the Add new metric link.

    • On the Documents Tree, right-click Metrics and select New Metric.

  2. Locate the Standard Metric section and click the Create button associated with it.

    The metric editing window appears.

  3. Assign a unique, descriptive name to the metric.
  4. Identify the data source and tables that have the necessary data for the metric.
  5. On the Mapping tab, in the Sources box, click the Plus icon.

    The Add Source window appears.

  6. In the New Source Type section, select the data source type that is the most logical primary data source from which any relationships to other database tables will be defined.
  7. In the Select new source section, select the source to add by clicking the ellipsis button.
  8. Find the source on the Documents Tree by navigating to the source or typing the name of the source in the search box. Click the source name and then click OK.
