Define a derived metric

Derived metrics are calculated from other metrics you have previously defined.

  1. Do one of the following:

    • From the Guide section, under Define Metrics, click the Add new metric link.

    • On the Documents Tree, right-click Metrics and select New Metric.

  2. Locate the Derived Metric section and click the Create button associated with it.
  3. Assign a name to the metric.
  4. Click the Definition tab, and then click Edit expression.
    The Expression Editor appears.
  5. Click Metrics on the left menu bar to select which metrics to use to create the derived metric calculations.
  6. Click and drag the selected metrics to the Expression Editor window, and then click OK.
  7. Click the Dimensions tab.

    You do not define dimensions for a derived metric because it inherits them automatically from the metrics from which it is built.

  8. On the Results Format list, select the preferred format.
  9. On the Actions tab, save the metric.
