Bottlenecks instance

Bottlenecks are points in the process where the flow of data is impaired, slow or stopped. To identify bottlenecks, you can define a color change for the step where the number of instances exceeds a certain threshold.

  1. Create a process chart.
  2. On the Display wizard, select Bottlenecks settings.
  3. For each process step, set conditions for coloring. For example, set lower limits as green and upper limits as red.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Open the process chart in Preview/Viewer.

Set conditions for bottlenecks

You can use the value of a dimension (defined in a metric) for a selected step and use it in the comparison condition.

  1. Create a metric with the StepIndex dimension.

The value of the metric dimension should match the step numbers of the process steps.

  2. For a process chart, open the Display wizard, and select Bottlenecks settings.
  3. For a particular process step, select Metric, and then select the metric from the Documents tree.
  4. For each process step, set conditions for coloring. For example, set lower limits as green and upper limits as red.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Open the process chart in Preview/Viewer.

You can review the process chart and the color-coded steps showing the defined bottlenecks.
