Bottlenecks instance
Bottlenecks are points in the process where the flow of data is impaired, slow or stopped. To identify bottlenecks, you can define a color change for the step where the number of instances exceeds a certain threshold.
- Create a process chart.
- On the Display wizard, select Bottlenecks settings.
- For each process step, set conditions for coloring. For example, set lower limits as green and upper limits as red.
- Click OK.
- Open the process chart in Preview/Viewer.
Set conditions for bottlenecks
You can use the value of a dimension (defined in a metric) for a selected step and use it in the comparison condition.
-
Create a metric with the
StepIndex dimension.
The value of the metric dimension should match the step numbers of the process steps.
- For a process chart, open the Display wizard, and select Bottlenecks settings.
- For a particular process step, select Metric, and then select the metric from the Documents tree.
- For each process step, set conditions for coloring. For example, set lower limits as green and upper limits as red.
- Click OK.
-
Open the process chart in Preview/Viewer.
You can review the process chart and the color-coded steps showing the defined bottlenecks.
